Comparison of OPI DS Glamour and Ninja Polish Glamourous

It was a really long time since there was a comparison post on this blog. It's been lots of swatches and manicures, but not much else. I think it's time to do something about it. So what better way to start than with something that I've been very curious about. Are OPI DS Glamour and Ninja Polish Glamorous really dupes?
Ninja Polish claims that they are. I actually bought Glamorous jut beacause it was supposed to be a dupe to DS Glamour (my biggest lemming!). I was fortunate enough to b able to buy DS Glamour at a decent price from a lovely girl. I have my biggest lemming ever! And now I can compare the polishes!

So lets get to it! First up is the obligatory bottle shot.

 As you can see they do look quite similar. The holo is stronger in Ninja Polish Glamourous (on the left) than in OPI DS Glamour (on the right). Ninja Polish Glamorous is slightly more purple as well, though I'm not sure it shows in my pictures, but I promise you it is.

I think you can see here that Ninja Polish Glamorous is slightly more purple than DS Glamour. As you can see the holo is a bit stronger and more fine in Ninja Polish Glamorous than in OPI DS Glamour. The holo is Glamour is slightly more scattered but still creates full rainbows.

In this picture you can really see the difference in both colour and holographic effect. Ninja Polish Glamorous is more purple and a tad more holographic.

I think I can say that these are as close as two polishes can be without being dupes. because no, they're not the same, they are similar. I do love OPI DS Glamour more. It's so hard to find, it's not created anymore, it took me ages to find (at a decent price) and it's been one my biggest lemming forever. If you don't care for vhtf polihes then Ninja Polish Glamorous is a perfect alternativ, though that one isn't really easy to get either but easier and a lot cheaper than OPI DS Glamour. I love them both, but DS Glamour is definitely closer to my heart.

Butter LONDON Jasper

 When I was in London the change from icy cold Swedish winter to warm spring weather made my naisl chip like crazy. That has never happened before. My nails chipped, and chipped and suddenly they were paper thin so I had to chop them off. Now I'll have to live with nubbins for a while. I like them so it doesn't really bother me, it's just that I really love my nails long.
So lets cher up by a pop of yellow. I'd like to show you Butter LONDON Jasper.

Jasper is a pastel buttercup yellow creme. It's cute, pretty and screams spring. I really like itt. But then again, I do have a soft spot for yellows. Jasper actually works with my skin tone. most yellows don't, but this one d and that I love even more than the polish itself. A yellow that works!

 
The formula is impeccable. Probably the easiest yellow creme ever to apply. It covered in two coats, was  totally streak free and dries super glossy.
What you see in the pictures are two coats of Jasper and one coat of Gisten & GlowHK Girl.

China Glaze DV8

Today I'm showing you one of my biggest lemmings. China Glaze DV8 from the almost mythical OMG Collection. I've wanted this polish since forever and now I finally got it. I slapped it on as soon as I got it. I just couldn't wait!

DV8 is tealish blue green with a super linear holo. I can't really pin point the colour but it looks much like a mediterranean sea, with the sunlight reflecting upon the waves. It's gorgeous. Just gorgeous. I literally had to lay down on the sofa because I was swooning so much over this. Ridiculous yes, but if you're a polish addict then you are. What's a girl supposed to do?
I love this polish. Simply love it. There's not much else to say.
The pictures are taken in sunligt because the skies have been heavy with gray clouds for months now. Can't wait to see this in the sun. If the sun ever decides to burst through those clouds.

The formula is great. Nothing to complain about there. It might be the tiniest bit runny, but nothing I couldn't handle. Two coats gave full coverage and it dried quickly. I noticed that there tended to almost be some cuticle drag on the first coat but it evened out perfectly on the second coat. Some people may think Aqua Fix is needed but I don't. The holo effect isn't affected by top coat. At least not the top coat I used.
What you see in the pictures are two coats of DV8 and one coat of China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.

Colors by Llarowe Gizzards & Lizards

I can't believe I've posted this earlier. This post has been lost in the cavern of lost post (aka my blogger archive) for months! Shame on me for keeping a polish like this from being posted. Fortunately it's Holo Friday and today I'll finally show you this, Colors by Llarowe Gizzards & Lizards.

Gizzards & Lizzards is an emerald green with blue undertones and a strong holographic effect. The holo effect's blue tone makes the polish flash in teal. It's absolutely gorgeous. I really, really love it. 

LeahAnn does know how to make lovely holos. This is incredible. Colors by Llarowe is one of my favourite brands. The holos, glitters, mutlichromes, shimmers, all are stunning! Everything LeahAnn touches becomes magic.

The formula is flawless. It's a bit on the ticker side. Much like A England. Which I love. It's creamy and applies easily and smooth. Two coats gave me full coverage and it dried quickly. The holographic effect is not affected by top coat and no Aqua Fix of sort is needed.

ILNP Nostalgia

It's Green Wednesday today and I'm back! I've had a little blog pause during the weekend because I went to London. If you followed me for a while you know I love London and try to visit as often as I can. This time I went with my boyfriend. It was really nice. Especially since we haven't been able to see each other as much as we'd like in the past ten weeks. For heaven's sake, we've been living in different towns because of my internship and we usually live together. So that was a lot of fun, escaping to London for a few days.

Anyway, Green Wednesday and I have ILNP Nostalgia to show you today.

Nostalgia is one of ILNP's ultra multichromes and this is probably the most multichromatic polish I've ever worn. It's unbelivable.  The colour shifts are incredibly strong. It shifts from green, gold, orange,pink, to purple in extreme angles. It's lovely and gorgeous and wonderful. I love it! I couldn't stop staring at my nails when wearing this. I can't really say anything else, so let the pictures do the talking.
The photos are taken in daylight. Ihhh, look at the shift!

The formula is impeccable. Smooth and easy to apply. A tad bit sheer maybe but that didn't bother me. Three coats gave full coverage. You do have to be a bit careful though, as with most multichromes, because the finish might become a bit brushstroke-y if not. the dry time is good and the finish becomes shiny.

Colors by Llarowe Beat It!

Hello! Long time no write. Again! I find it extremely frustrating to not be able to blog everyday. On the other hand I let my creativity go into other things than painting my nails which is nice. Don't get my wrong, I love to paint my nails, it's just that I like to put my creativity into other things than nails like writing, painting actual paintings, creating things with my hands...
Anyways, my creative output is not what I was planning on writing about today. My actual plan was and still is to write about Colors by Llarowe Beat It.

Beat It is a gray holo with olive undertones giving it a green-ish glow. Yes, it's another holo! I just can't get enough of holographics right now. I really like this. Yes, it's gray but no, it's not boring. At all! It's actually very, very beautiful. The holo effect is strong and creates full rainbows on the nails and I love the olive green-ish gray hue.

The formula was impeccable. I loved the formula on most of the CbL's I've tried. Leah Ann makes such perfect polishes. Creamy, smooth and very, very easy to apply. This was a one coater, but I used two coats for the pictures above to create even more depth. It dried quickly and TC won't affect the holo.
What you see in the pictures are two coats of Colors by Llarowe Beat It and one coat of Seche Vite.

LilypadLacquer Ruby Slippers

 

 

Holo Friday! Yay!
I love holographic polishes. Most of the ones I buy right now are either holo or multichrome. That's why there has been so much holo going on here. I'll show you a few holos today and first up is LilypadLacquer Ruby Slippers.

Ruby Slippers is pink with red tones and a lovely holographic effect.This is actually my second bottle of  Ruby Slippers. I bought my first bottle months ago and it looked incredibly holographic in the bottle but on the nails it wasn't at all. Just a slight scattered effect in direct sunlight. But it was a one coater. So I sold the bottle. Now I decided to buy another bottle to see if my luck was any better, and it definitely was.  This batch of Ruby Slippers is holo, but not as strong as or example Sminkans. 
The colour differs a lot to. It's more pink in Sminkan's pictures than in mine, but mine is never that pink. Mine is definitely a reddened pink and not a pink pink. So if you buy the polish don't expect it to look like mine or Sminkan's. The batches differ a lot.
The holo is a bit subtle, but a tad stronger in direct sunlight. Not much though. But I love it. The colour is so pretty and I really like the depth the holo effect gives.

 The formula was good. Three thin coats gave full coverage (remember that the first bottle that I bought of this polish was a one coater!) and the polish dries quickly. The finish becomes very shiny and a bit jelly-like.
TC doesn't affect the holo effect.

CrowsToes Hellhound

 Goodmorning! Today I'm in the mood for CrowsToes, so CrowsToes is what I'm going to show you! This is CrowsToes Hellhound from the fall collection Better Late Than Never. 

Hellhound is a n almost multichromatic shimmer that shifts from burgundy, red, copper, brown to gold. It's my favourite from the collection. I find it stunning. The colours are lovely and it's just perfect for fall. Or anytime when you feel like wearing a vampy shade. Because yes, I do find this vampy.

I really like CrowsToes, I wish I had more polishes from this lovely indie brand to show. As of right now there are only three or four in my stash. I'll definitely have to get a few more since mst of the polishes are beautiful!

The formula is good. Smooth and easy to appply. Two coats gave full coverage, but I applied a third to get more depth. The polish dries quickly and the finish becomes shiny. Not shiny enough for me though since I love a glass like finish.
