Colors by Llarowe POTM July: I'll be at the Lake

Today I want to show you Colors by Llarowe I'll be at the Lake. 

I'll be at the Lake is a bright blue metallic with gorgeous turquoise, pink and purple shimmer and a subtle holographic effect. These pictures are taken in artificial lighting, which brings out the beautiful holo effect and turquoise shimmer. In indirect sunlight it looks almost multichrome , shifting between blue, pink and purple.
I found it to be a tad sheer. This is three coats and top coat. Otherwise the formula is great. I'ts completely self leveling and in no way streaky.

What you see in the pictures are three coats of Color by LLarowe I'll be at the Lake and one coat of Pretty Serious Crystal Coat.


 

Colors by Llarowe Time to Chill Collection: Swatches & Review

Hi darlings!

Today I'll share a new collection from Colors by Llarowe called Time to Chill. The collection is excusive to Hypnotic Polish and can only be bought from there. From the beginning I had my mind set on three of them but I ended up buying the whole collection.

I wanted new holographic neons since last summer's failure from Mentality. Or scandal. Whatever you want to call it was horrible.

Anyway, the Time to Chill Collection consists of six neon holos. They're all stunning and perfect for summer. Overall the formula is good. A few of them were very sheer and others perfectly normal. Usually when I do a mani with neon I do a white base but for these swatches I didn't so you can actually see the coverage. Thy all dry to semi-matte finish so you need top coat if you want the finish to be shiny.

Island Escape

Island Escape is a neon lime green scattered holo. The colour is so lovely and bright. Perfect neon green. The only downside is that it's a bit sheer on it's own. With a white base you'd probably need two coats.
Shown is three coats plus top coat.

Hello Starfish

Hello Starfish is a watrmlon neon pink scattered holo. This is so pretty. It's surprisingly my favorite from the collection. I'm no big fan of pink but I love this. It's just so summer-y and vibrant. I think it's the least neon one in the collection.

Bikinis & Flip Flops

Bikinis & Flip Flops is a neon purple scattered holo. This one was so hard to photograph. It's a bit lighter in real life. It's such a juicy, intense colour.

Zest for Life

Zest for Life is a neon yellow scattered holo. There's a few drops of green in that yellow making it ook evn more neon. I love the coour but it's very sheer. As with Island Escape this one would benefit from a white base.

Cocktail Party

Cocktail Party is a neon magenta scattered holo. This is another one that was really hard to photograph. It's a tad lighter and slightly more pink in real life. The colour is gorgeous. It's so vibrant! And the holo makes it even prettier.

Sweet Nectar

Sweet Nectar is a neon orange scattered holo. This is such an amazing orange. It's so intense! I love it. This one was also a bit sheer but nowhere near Island Escape and Zest for Life.

Colors by Llarowe POTM June Enjoy-mint

Colors by Llarowe has made a Polish Of The Month for quite a while now. I've bought a few of them. POTM June was one that as soon as I saw swatches I knew I had to have it.

Colors by Llarowe Enjoy-mint is a dusty, muted mint green scattered holo. It's so pretty. The holo is very soft but still gives depth.

Two coats give full coverage. The finish becomes shiny and smooth.  If you want that glass like finish you do need a coat of top coat to achieve it.

Colors by Llarowe Chasing a Unicorn

Today I'll show you Colors by Llarowe Chasing a Unicorn. I bought this for a friend. When she got it she of course made me try it.
There's been a lot of buzz around Chasing a Unicorn and I've read lots and lot of reviews about it. A lot of people seem disappointed about the polish while others are over the moon about it.

Chasing a Unicorn  is a white holo with a grey tint.  It comes with a colour correcting base to make the polish look more white.   It's not a completely white holo, but it's close. Hence the name, if it was completely white it would probably just be called Unicorn.
And yes, there's some hassle with it, since you can't just apply it and have a near white holo, but I think it's worth it.

The formula is good. It's cramy and applies smoothly. The finish becomes shiny when dry.

I used two coats of the colour correcting base, two coats of Chasing a Unicorn and one coat of Pretty Serious Crystal Coat. 

Colors by Llarowe Pirates of Penzance

Colors by Llarowe Pirates of Penzance is a polish I wanted to show you for the longest time, but inspiration never struck and as you know my polish interest basically disappeared. I'm getting back on track and I've finally got some inspiration to write.

Pretty Woman is one of those classic rom-coms. I'm no big fan of romantic comedies but I do like Pretty Woman. It's witty, smart and, well, romantic.
I especially like the Pirates of Penzance scene so I'm glad there was a polish inspired by it in CbL's Pretty Woman Collection. 

Pirates of Penzance is deep, vibrant red with a strong holographic effect. I guess that the shade is inspired by Vivan's dress worn in the scene.
The holo effect is extremly strong and adds a lot of depth to the finish.

The formula is good. It's creamy and goes on smoothly. I did two very thin coats for full coverage but if you do thicker coats you'll probably get full coverage with just one coat.

Oh, for your information, I just bought myself a new camera. A DSLR Canon EOS 1200D. I've never used a DSLR camera before so I'm still getting used to it. I still won't get the white balance right and sometimes the focus, but I'm working on it. The pictures are still a lot better than with my old Exilim compact camera.

Colors by Llarowe Santa Baby

I'd like to show you my favourite from CbL's Winter 2015 Collection today. This is Santa Baby. 

Santa Baby is a christmas red holo with red micro glitter. This is Christmas perfection in a bottle. I literally screamed when I opened the parcel and saw this. It's so gorgeous. The red micro glitter adds sparkle and depth and looks like embedded emeralds in the base.
It sometimes flashes slightly pink but thats because of the holo effect that has a pink tone to it. Hands down my favourite from the collection. I'm not surprised though. I love, love, love red holos. The micro glitter just makes it better.
I love the name as well. Santa Baby (especially the one sung by Eartha Kitt) is one of my favourite Christmas songs. It's fun and witty and wonderful.

The formula is impeccable, it smooth and practically applies itself.  Two coats give full coverage. The finish becomes shiny and smooth, even tough there's glitter. Top coat won't dull the holo.

Colors by Llarowe Fairy Dust

Today I'll show you Colors by Llarowe Fairy Dust from the Winter 2015 Collection. 

Fairy dust is a pale grey leaning white jelly with prismatic glitter, holo and some warm, pale gold shimmer. It's absolutely gorgeous. It shimmers and sparkles just like snow. I like that it's a pale grey. I ove myself a good white, but they tend to look a little harsh on the nails and pale white-ish greys are often a lot softer to wear. The holo is subtle but adds depth and sparkle.

The photos are taken in artificial lighting.

The formula was great. It was slightly sheer, but that's to expect from an almst white jelly, so I needed three coats for full coverage.
The finish becomes a little textured but top coat makes the finish smooth and shiny.
