Matte Dotticure

A few weeks ago I did a really colourful dotticure. I usually do dotticures that have a white or more neutral base, or colours that don't clash together like a dark blue base with lighter blue dots. This time I wanted to do something really colourful, with dots in different sizes and on a base that doesn't really match but still looks great under the dots. I'm happy with the result. I'd definitely do this type of dotticure again.

The polishes I've used are Barry M Grapefruit, Picture Polish Chillax and Picture Polish Swagger. I used Grapefruit as my base and I used Chillax and Swagger for the dots. I did the dots with the help of a dotting tool.
It was pretty shiny but I used Pretty Serious Matte All the Things! to matte it. I really like matte nail art. Somehow it brings the patterns out more.

The pictures are taken in indirect sunlight.

Fantasy Fire Layering

Hi darlings! Long time no write. I've been so busy finish up my bachelor's degree project that I haven't had the time to blog. I've finished the project now and I have to turn it in on Thursday. Hopefully I'll pass!
Enough about that, let's talk about polish instead. Today I'll show you two of my favourite polishes in a lovely layering.

The polishes I've used are Barry M Blue Grape and Max Factor Fantasy Fire.
Blue Grape might just be the perfect blue colour. It's so vibrant and shiny.
Fantasy Fire is as most of you now a gorgeous multichrome. It doesn't cover on its own, unless you use a billion (at least six coats. Yes, I've tried), so it's the perfect polish for layering.
I love Fantasy Fire over Blue Grape. It's stunning and so much more sparkly and vibrant in real life. When the light hits it the shimmer sparkles in a vivid purple over the blue base. In indirect sunlight, as you can see in the pictures, the multichromatic effect is better seen.

I used two coats of Barry M Blue Grape, one coat of Max Factor Fantasy Fire and one coat of Pretty Serious Crystal Coat.

Frozen Blue Grapes Gradient

Hi guys! It's Nail Art Sunday today. I haven't participated in months! I can't even remember the last time I joined in. I thought it was time today. I slapped on some polish and did a gradient.
The polish I've used are OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Pirouette My Whistle and Barry M Blue Grape.

I started off with a white base and sponged on Blue Grape. Then I added some glitter to hide some imperfections. Glitter is great for that.
I think the gradient turned out good. It's not great but it's the first gradient I've done in about a year. I love gradients but I hate doing them because of the clean up. I never clean up my manicures or swatches. I don't even own a clean up brush! I found an old make up brush in a drawer and cleaned up this mani. I really like the result but I might be too winter-y. I'm definitely going to do this again closer to winter.

What you see in the pictures are two coats of OPI Alpine Snow, one coat of Barry M Blue Grape sponged on to the tips, one coat of OPI Pirouette My Whistle and one coat of Pretty Serious Crystal Coat.

Sparkly Blue Grapes (Reversed Gradient)

That break I had from all things sparkly, it didn't last very long. Two hours and 3 minutes to be exact. I love all things sparkly so I just couldn't leave my nails without it.
Barry M Blue Grape, which I showed you yesterday is a gorgeous electric blue crelly. It's wonderful to wear on it's own but I amped it up with a little bit of blue glitter. Perfect for Blue Monday as well. Check out Tove's lovely blog for more blue manis today.

So, back to my mani. It's blue, it's sparky and it's a reversed gradient. you who have followed me for a while know that I love reversed gradients. It's much more interesting and a lot prettier, in my opinion, tha the usual gradient that starts from the tips. The polishes I've used for this gradient are Barry M Blue Grape and Smitten Polish Pure Imagination. Pure Imagination is one of my favourite Smitten's. The formula is great, the colour's amazing and it has the right amount of sparkle. Unfortunately it's discontinued.

I've used two coats of Barry M Blue Grape as the base colour on all nails, then I've dragged out a dot of Pure Imagination to create the reversed gradient. I finished the mani with two coats of Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Barry M Blue Grape

Let's take a break from all the glitter, holos, multichrome and shimmers, shall we. Let's instead focus on something simple. I'd like to show you Barry M Blue Grape today.

Blue Grape is a bright blue crelly. You know, a mix of a creme and a jelly. It's got the opacity o a creme but the shiny of a jelly.  It's a gorgeous shade. The same kind of blue as Nails Inc Baker Street (which happens to be one of my favourite blues, not just because of it's name. Sherlock anyone?). It's super shiny, bright and happy. I love wearing this shade of blue. It speaks for itself and it's never boring.

The formula is good. It's easy to apply, it's self-leveling and covers in three coats. It dries quickly on it's own and the finish becomes very, very shiny. Top coat is not needed for the shine, actually it's not needed for the dry time either but I just cannot leave a mani without top coat.
What you see in the pictures are three coats of Barry M Blue Grape without top coat.

Stripes and Roses

Translation: It's Blue Monday today but I didn't feel like showing you a blue polish, even though I have both old and new ones. Instead I decided to go with a blue nail art.
The inspiration comes from a nail art that The Nailasaurus did a couple of weeks (maybe months?) ago. Of course I can't find the post but I think I can recall that it was green instead of blue. I wanted to do something like it but not copy it.
Anyways, I'm happy with how it turned out. it's not perfect, but it's good. And good is enough for me who is a real beginner at nail art.
The polishes I've used are Barry M Gelly Blueberry, OPI Alpine Snow, OPI OPI...Eurso Euro and Cirque Galinda.
I made the stripes using striping tape and i painted the roses on free hand with the help of a dotting tool.
